This is not a bag

Thats what it says on the envolope that my medium Timbuk2 Classic Messenger bag showed up in. Indeed some could argue with that statement but whatever, theres a map of San Fransisco printed on the reverse of the bag. Wouldnt it be cool if they printed a map of wherever the bag was being shipped to, now that would be sweet.

So onto the bag, I anxiously checked the UPS site for delivery confirmation, of course all the good stuff shows up while youre away at work or wherever. I rushed home with baited breath to rip into my new Timbuk2 Classic Medium messenger Bag (I hate when people post reviews of bags and dont post the size, grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr).

I have to say that the medium bag has ample space for even the most pack rat of people. As I was emptying out the contents of my Camebak Transformer I thought to myself I wonder if my backpack would fit in the messenger bag. Guess what the backpack did fit into the messenger bag, wow I was amazed.

So I emptied all my stuff into my Timbuk2 and Im like wow I have all this space. Most of my stuff went into the pockets inside the bag. I have my umbrella, shemagh, book and that's about it in the main well of the bag.

The bag is constructed in no less than excellent quality that Ive heard of in other reviews. Based on the less than an hour that Ive had the bag and played with it Im very very very happy. Would I have gone with a small bag, no I like the extra room that I have which will allow me to go shopping with if I choose or throw in a jacket if the weather changes.

Sorry for the camera phone pics I'll post better pics soon, its been a long day. If youve got questions fire away.

Timbuk2 Custom Classic Messenger Bag (medium) Review

I couldn't find a real good review on the Timbuk2 Classic Messenger Bag so I decided to write my own. I hope it helps in your quest for a messenger bag.

After wanting to ditch my Camelbak Transformer backpack for a mature looking carrying apparatus I decided on a Custom Timbuk2 Classic Messenger Bag. I read rave reviews on how durable and long lasting Timbuk2 bags were and had to get one.

I headed over to www.timbuk2.com and went to the customize section. First I picked the kind of bag I wanted which was the classic messenger, then I picked the size, medium then picked the panel colors. This is where the fun starts, I choose Black for the first and second panel colors. Then I picked the "Question Reality" as the third panel, I don't know how many times I arranged the panels around to make different combinations.

You can easily spend hours picking color combinations but you can take a look at what others have created which is cool. After you pick the color panels you pick the color of the interior. my logic on this step was hi-visibility I want to be able to see what was in my bag so I picked a Red TPU interior.

I picked a glow in the dark logo for my bag with black binding and reflector tails instead of tabs. Being a IT Professional decided to get the QR code to show off my geeky side or else this bag may have wound up boring.

So several days passed by as I looked at various messenger bag company's and their offerings. I wound up back at Timbuk2 because of the level of customizing that they offered for their products.

Once I get the bag I'll post pics of the bag inside and out. I'll also answer my age old question in the medium size bag big enough for me. The size thing was the biggest headache for me.

I needed at least enough space to replace the contents of my Camelbak which is 793.3 cu in (13 L) which is nothing. The Classic Messenger is 1474 cu in or (24.2 L), wow that's a lot of bag. But you know how pictures are never very true that's what worries me about this bag.

If you don't want this level of customizing you can always get a pre-made bag with still looks good and will cost you lot less than a custom bag. Company's like Timbuk2, REI, Paragon and other sporting goods stores sell pre-made Timbuk2 Messenger bags.

I will also be doing a YouTube review on my Timbuk2 Classic Messenger Bag once it arrives as well, so keep an eye out for that. Hopefully I'll do a thorough enough of an review for the video as the written version.

I came up with the bag you see below (its not here yet at the time of this post). Real life pictures will be uploaded once the bag shows up, The bag is supposed to show up on Oct 28th, 2011.

Sorry for the small picture, bigger pics will follow soon.
